1969 was an extraordinary year and not just because it was our GRADUATION year from High School. Another epic event took place on July 20, 1969 as America successfully completed the 1st Lunar Landing. The now infamous Woodstock Music Festival took place less than 4 weeks later and some of the same musicians went to Texas two weeks after that to perform at the Texas International Pop Festival in North Texas. Other significant technical achievements included the first use of the INTERNET by the Military, then there was the invention of the microprocessor leading to the computer revolution. The 1st ATM machine was installed in the United States in 1969. Pop culture brought on the fad of tie-dye shirts and bell bottom pants which were a hit with the youth. Numerous other accomplishments took place in 1969  The '69 CLASS of John F Kennedy High School is holding our 50th REUNION and to expand the Celebration ...We want to commemorate our Fantastic year and Hope you will come and ENJOY this milestone event along with us. Our work is cut out for us 1969 Graduates ... so PLEASE invite accordingly ...  If you know where other's who have not attended in the past are, please reach out to them.  Let this be a reunion to REMEMBER!!! Continued communications regarding the plans for our 50th will be forthcoming ... Let's get EXCITED!!!

Thank you to all of the organizers of this tremendous event! I am quite sad that I will  be unable to attend due to prior engagement out-of- town. Please keep me in the loop for future events. Outstanding, Fabulous Job, Wonderful to See Each and Everyone of You.....know this....now the Faculty wants me to get more of them together in the Spring...see what you all did and I love it!!!

Anyway...here is an

Update on "Cougar Procurement 2009"

Ed Drouet is going to get me some pictures of the cougar and is going to "stealthly" talk to one of the retired Superintendents (not smart to tip just anyones' hand as they may realize what is there and stop our "
process for procurement"). Afraid of a 5-finger requisition but think we can do it without too much fan-fare.

Anyway, spoke to the new Curator of the Newcomb Art Gallery, sent him information and he is talking to the head of Acquisitions for the art Gallery at Newcomb, in addition I know the Manager of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Gardens in City Park and asked her to put on her "thinking cap" for where/who to contact for refurbishing, etc.

So glad that I have a project and we will give our "Big Cat" a good and deserving home.

Again, Huge Thanks to All of the committe for all of their hard work, unending enthusiasm and distinct determination to give us all the opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones.

I would love to hear from and have time to visit with each and every one of you, for a chance to not only know where you live and what you do, but to hear about your children, your interests and your lives. Please complete the bios for us all.

You know Teacher's are a funny group...when you love what you do and who you do it for and with...it inspires you to do more for more people. Life has been good to us all for we are here and healthy and getting ready for whatever comes our way.

Stay safe in your travels, be wise in your decisions and love the fact that you were all classmates at JFK making all of the faculty proud to say we were there with you.

See you at the next reunion...or maybe even before.

Trudy

Hi All

I totally forgot to say something else.  Hats off to Scott, Katie, Robert and everyone else who put together this great 40th Reunion.  You guys Rock!  What an awesome time we all had.  Thanks again for taking time out of your busy schedule to put on such a great event.  Only wish I could have gone on the riverboat.  Someone  needs to write how that was.

Again thanks all of you for doing such a great job for the 40th.

Hi Everyone!
To those who attended the 40th Reunion celebration, by the time you read this greeting you are either recovering from a "hang over" or just still scratching your head asking yourself, "Has it really been 40 years already? I still feel so young and vibrant"
Well  - those thoughts will really confirm you are recovering from a hangover!

It saddened me that I was not able to attend due to another commitment this weekend.

Please continue to have a wonderful time while you are here and re-connect with me please - send pictures, bring me up-to-date with you and your families. Send my e-mail address to other classmates, etc... You'll read more about me and my family in the "booklet" Marilyn has put together. (I sure hope I can receive a copy or at least have it e-mailed to me!)

Keep in touch!
Best wishes and Hugs from,
Betty (Hamilton) LeBlanc

What a joy to see the web site. Barry French called tonight (he married my best friends sisiter-in-law...I know you all know it isn't 6 degrees of separation in New Orleans...usually just two degrees) He told me about the upcoming class reunion...I reviewed the yearbook immediately and the memories of this great class came flooding back.
I was literally in front of the school and considering going in the fence today...guess you all are aware nothing has been done to JFK since the storm...

I do see that there are some slackers...I know they don't want me to call and ask for an excuse for non-attendance. I look forward toattending and if we can get this message to Scott or anyone responsible for the dets of this soignee affair (hey do you all remember the prom!)..I'll give you a check when I see you...afraid it might not catch up with you before you leave to come home...yes, that is so good to say...so many of you are coming from so very far away and for some the Northshore feels like a trip!!

Travel safely and I look forward to seeing you all next week-end.

Warmest Regards
